David obtained his PhD in Biochemistry at Hasselt University in 2016 (Dissertation: “Evaluation of a generic in vivo approach for the site-specific modification of proteins with a ‘click chemistry functionalized amino acid’ for the development of innovative bioactive materials”). After his academic career he started working as a research scientist at the start-up company Bloonics BV in the Netherlands. In this position he rapidly became involved into defining the company’s scientific strategies, setting up collaborations and designing experiments. In the past years he has learned to be a critical, independent scientist with a creative problem-solving mindset.
